The Strangers of New Valhalla: Preview Article 2 - The Awakening

Welcome back Rulers!

Let’s hop in without any delay!

Well, well. Another “God” we haven’t seen for some time. As some may know, Liz is not the one of the godly beings of ancient Valhalla, but that isn’t stopping the Chamimi tribe from waking her up nonetheless! She certainly LOOKS powerful. She was resting in the runes after all. Liz, being an Elf, looks to do what all strong leaders must. She protects her own. She doesn’t mind that the Chamimi are not elves. She enters the field granting protection to all your resonators and shielding them from the powers of enemies such as Lancelot, Azazel, or even Jyubei! In addition, she herself becomes less of a burden if the player is focused around playing many small resonators. It’s easy to imagine within her own Elf tribe, she could be cast fairly early in the game with many tokens lowering her total cost. Should Liz decide to assist her new found Chamimi friends, she will still become cheaper and cheaper as the tribe scatters around.

Continuing our journey we see Liz also grants Wind divinity rulers the ability to destroy additions in the Rune deck. As many will realize, with so many powerful additions around, this cheap yet effective rune can be effective both in the rune deck and the main/side deck due to its Chant/Rune typing and low will cost!

Well now. If that isn’t the face of terror and fear packed into one deadly package, I don’t know what is. In all seriousness, Flying Squirrel is an effective way to push through damage in sealed and limited games, where the occasional flying option combined with its flexible will cost presents enough use that it’s worth including in your limited pool if it meshes with your card pool! It can even decide to throw itself into the graveyard for four wind will should you decide that this powerhouse has done enough damage to your opponent and their resonators.

Yet again today, we see the resting place of a “god.” The Ruins Beneath the Flora has kept Liz safe and slumbering for quite some time. As the Chamimi awaken Liz, the Ruins begin to release a powerful stimulant that harkens back to an older time. A wind magic that created the powerful magic stones. Time will tell if this powerful magic has any further effect on the world of New Valhalla…
