The Strangers of New Valhalla: Preview Article 9 - Let's Get Down to Business!~

Rise and shine Rulers! Time for another spoiler article! This time we have a new red Super Rare to show off!

We have Zhuge Liang, Fu Xi’s advisor and Kunlun’s greatest mind with us today! As some of you history buffs might have already have figured out, the characters of Kunlun are derived from a story called “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, a historical retelling of the Three Kingdoms period (about 200 AD) from before what is now China. In “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, Zhuge Liang is recognized as one of the best military strategists of their time, but was said to be at their strongest when working together with Pang Tong. The same can be said for Force of Will’s Zhuge Liang, coming in as a 2-for-1 (3 if you count Pang Tong’s effect!) that can really mess with your opponent’s plans! Red is a color with no shortage of aggressive swiftness 1-drop resonators, meaning Zhuge Liang will have no shortage of fodder to feed into that cancel effect! While a 900/900 for 4 will is nothing to write home about (especially after Tuesday’s Magellanica, a 4 will 1200/1200!), you must keep in mind Zhuge Liang is a strategist, not a fighter, and is best used strategically.

Getting into the Master Rune, a 2 will partial board wipe? Yes please! While paying 5 will to play this from the deck seems a little tricky, 2 will is superb for what this card does. Against a board of three resonators it becomes a destroy two, and it just keeps getting better the more resonators your opponent has! Unlike Arthur’s Master Rune, Anti-Matter Cannon, Excalibur, The Three Kingdom Partition Plan misses additions and allows your opponent to choose the best pile to keep -- but considering the 2 will cost, that’s hardly a downgrade at all!

All Under Heaven Shall Perish acts as more board clear to supplement the prior Master Rune, but this one gets stronger once you are low on health. Not only can it be used on defense to protect yourself, you can use it to wipe your opponents board of chump blockers and swing in for massive damage. All-around a good flexible board wipe.

Sima Hui is another tactician from the “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”. As a resonator, he can synergise well with an aggressive red strategy consistently hitting a plethora of 1-drop swiftness resonators and spells from your deck.

That does it for today’s spoiler! Tune in tomorrow for this week’s last spoiler!
