Hermes, Messenger of the Gods (MP03-001)
Question: Can I choose Hermes, Messenger of the Gods as
my starting ruler and play it with no other ruler?
Answer: No. According
to rule 1145.2a, [Tag] "Name" means "If you choose a ruler with
[Tag] "Name" as your starting ruler, you have to start the game with
this ruler and another ruler with "Name" in its name. Put both in
your ruler area.".
Question: And can I choose it as my starting ruler if
none of its secondary rulers are eligible as [Tag] "Name" ruler due
deckbuilding restrictions, such as not being in the same format?
Answer: No. If your
secondary ruler is not eligible as [Tag] "Name" ruler due
deckbuilding restrictions, you cannot choose a ruler with [Tag]
"Name" as a starting ruler.
Question: When calculating the value of my [Rune], is
[Rune] [W][W][W][B][B][B] also considered [Rune] (6)?
Answer: Yes, it is.
Question: And if I reveal exactly one water card from my
rune deck while controlling this ruler, is my [Rune] [W][W][W][B][B][B], or is
it [Rune] [W][W][W][B][B][B]+[B]?
Answer: [Rune] [W][W][W][B][B][B]+[B].
According to rule 1137.6, if an effect increases or decreases the number of
revealed runes in a player’s rune area to [Will Symbol] or to (Number), to
calculate the value of that player’s [Rune], first apply all effects that
increase or decrease the number of revealed runes in that player’s rune area,
then add to that count the runes revealed in that player’s rune area.
Dionysus, Olympian God of Revelry (MP03-003)
Question: Can I choose only three entities with the
[Enter] of this card if my opponent does not control five entities of different
types or a warden?
Answer: Yes. As this
card does not target, even if the card doesn't say "choose up to...",
you do as much as possible while resolving the [Enter] effect. But you cannot voluntarily choose less, so if the
maximum you could choose would be four, you have to choose those four.
Isis, Flower of the Desert (MP03-016)
Question: If I play this card from the graveyard paying
its full printed cost of [Ibka] [W][R], would it be affected by effects like
Angelic Seal of Yomidgard?
Answer: Because you
paid an alternative cost to play it that does not include cost reduction and
also exactly matches the printed cost of the card, the effects of cards like
Angelic Seal of Yomidgard do not affect this card while played from your
graveyard paying it with [Ibka] [W][R].
Hrymr, Frost Giant of Hrimheimr (MP03-038)
Question: If I play a resonator card from the graveyard,
does the <Thin Ice> ability trigger because that resonator card entered
from the graveyard?
Answer: Yes. A card
played from an area is considered to have been played from that area even if,
when played, it passes through the chase area.
Chamimi Megantereon Rider (MP03-051)
Question: If I reveal this card while resolving
"Jurassic Stampede", as "Jurassic Stampede" allows me to
put “Chamimi, Meganteron Rider” onto the field during its resolution, can I
choose “Chamimi, Meganteron Rider” itself as the target of its own ability that
triggers from the deck upon being revealed?
Answer: Yes. The automatic ability of “Chamimi, Megantereon Rider”
is triggered while you resolve the effect of “Jurassic Stampede”, but is played
later, during the next priority sequence. “Chamimi, Megantereon Rider” is put
into the field during the resolution of “Jurassic Stampede”, so is already in
the field when her automatic ability is finally played, and therefore a legal
target for her own ability.
The Grigori, Entourage of the Fallen (MP03-057)
Question: If I have 1000 life and my opponent has 2000
life, can I play a card that says "You may pay 200 life rather than pay [1]
up to X times to play this card," paying 1800 life, since, as The Grigori,
Entourage of the Fallen replaces the life I lose paying life with “each player
loses half that much instead, rounded up”?
Answer: No. According
to rule 903.2l-2, if you want to pay a cost that includes paying life, you must
be able to pay the full cost before applying any replacement effect. Therefore,
in this situation, the maximum number of life you could pay would be 1000.
Question: And if I play the card "Dante Enters the
Game of Gods", which says "Pay 500, 1000 or 1500 life. Draw a card
for each 500 life paid this way", choosing that option and paying 1000
life, how many cards would I draw?
Answer: You would draw two cards. The replacement effect of
The Grigori, Entourage of the Fallen is not replacing the payment of life
itself, so the payment still happens normally. “Dante Enters the Game of Gods”
will see that you paid 1000 life during resolution and you will draw two cards,
even when you and all other players lost 500 life.
Question: If a Fallen Angel's activate ability has no
will cost quantities, when resolving the God's Art of The Grigori, Entourage of
the Fallen, would [B] be added to its cost? For example, would a Fallen Angel's
activate ability that says "[Rest]: Draw a card.", become
"[Rest], [D]: Draw a card."?
Answer: No.
According to rule 905.1c, if an ability of effect modifies the “will activation
cost” of an ability specifically replacing its “will activation cost” with a
different “will activation cost”, if the ability did not have a “will
activation cost” before applying the replacement, the replacement is not
applied to that ability. Abilities
whose activation cost is exactly “[0]:” do not include a will cost quantity, as
paying [0] is not paying any will.
Rite of Death and Rebirth (MP03-067)
Question: What happens to the revealed cards that I decide
not to play while resolving this spell?
Answer: Since the
order of the cards is not modified, and they are being revealed from the top of
their owner's deck, they remain in that same order at the top of their owner’s
deck, but hidden.
Those Who Assaulted Yomidgard (MP03-071)
Question: Does the effect of choosing who plays first
apply during the first game of the match, or during all games of the match?
Answer: During all
games of the match.
